Lovely: This week in my life

So, I had an earache so bad that I went back to the ENT this week. He referred me to an audiologist specifically.

Turns out, I am going deaf.

If the average human's ear hears between + 20 and - 20 decibels, I am in the -35 to -40 range. I still think my sinuses are blocking my ears. But, the ENT says he didn't think so. He couldn't feel enough blockage and inflammation to justify that significant of a loss.

The audiologist just smiled sweetly and said, "Let us know when you're ready to come back for hearing aids!"

Wow. She said normally she doesn't see this range until someone is in their mid - late 60s. But, she just smiles and says, " . . . hearing aids . . ." like it's not big deal. I know it's her job, but still.

Lovely.

On top of which, PayPal (use your PayPal account - you're covered!) screwed me on a transaction. I managed to get $20 of the $25.54 back, okay not a lot of money, however the seller - a nutjob if ever there was one - gets to walk away unscathed. It appears that to send someone a planter for a plant, at nearly twice the size you stated, instead of a teabag holder, is NOT considered "Not significantly as described" in PayPal Land. Nor is "From a non-smoking home" and it arrives reeking so badly of smoke it's on the front porch, still, 4 weeks later, is also NOT considered "Not significantly as described" in PayPal Land. It is in eBay World. The man I spoke to at eBay first was pretty livid and agreed with me. It was obvious PayPal never read the claim information. They didn't have time to follow up on it, and since it was getting to be 30 days since I filed, they just rejected it. I am closing my eBay and PayPal accounts as soon as my last transactions are completed.

I have been with them for over eight years. The seller has been with them six months. I hope losing a good buyer for white trash liars is worth it to them.

Incidentally, I am writing to Scott Thompson - the president of PayPal. I want him to know why I closed my account.

Lovely.

But, the weather IS lovely today! I still have so much work to do it's frightening, but when Tim gets home we will dogwalk. Maybe. After all, he did get called in to a surgery at 2 AM, and he said he would stay and round following it. In other words, as of this posting, he's already put in a 8.5 hour day. Meaning he will want to nap the rest of this day.

Lovely.
