(sung to the tune of "Drunken Sailor")
What do you do with a gravid turtle?
What do you do with a gravid turtle?
What do you do with a gravid turtle,
who jumps out of her tank?
Yes, earl-lie in the morning, I heard a crash from the living room. Sara, our female turtle, decided to climb out of her tank and fell about 4 foot to the wooden floor. I found her halfway across the room, scooting her little brains out. She is holding eggs, gravid, and looking for a place to lay. I have given her several options for nesting boxes, to no avail. I even took her outside. She hid under some leaves.
I will keep trying. A friend said to put a board over her tank. She was in her rubbermaid nesting box earlier. I left to go to the bathroom, and came back to see her peeking out - holding the lid and a 15 pound book up with just her head. Turtles!
The fast continues. I have hit a little plateau, but am right on the cusp of pound number thirty-three. I have a waistline again!
