Cheap food! And the food log continueth

So, not an awful day, given circumstances. Computer's up, but do I have the syllabi done for Monday? No . . . I missed eBay, Etsy, toothpaste for dinner, and the usuals too much!

I just read an article that said dieters who keep a food log and honest records will lose twice as much as those who don't.

Needless to say, I am NOT taking any chances!

        • Breakfast (5:30 AM) - 3/4 of a small orange, 1/4 of an OG* Granny Smith apple

        • Lunch (11:30 AM) - 2 c fresh veggies (tomato, cucumber, baby carrots) and 1/2 c homemade baba ghanouj (roasted eggplant, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice)

        • Snack (3:30 PM) - 4 oz. Tropical Vruit, 1 slice 12 grain bread, 1 t Smart Balance
        • Dinner (6:30 PM) - 2.5 c fajitas made with yellow pepper, onion, seitan, fajita mix; 4 corn tortillas (small); 4 grape tomatoes; 1/4 c mild shredded cheddar

        • Snack (8:30 PM) - 4 cups light popcorn (250 calories)

        *OG = organically grown

        So, I know, I ate cheese & wheat (I forgot seitan was wheat gluten!). BUT, I have decided to cut EVERYTHING out all at once would be diet-suicide, so I am d oing it slowly. Besides, Tim and I stopped at the new Aldi foodstore near us to check it out. The generic Aldi brand of bread looked JUST like Brownberry Ovens, so I couldn't resist . . . $1.69 vs. $3.99? And, for at least 12 years I have bought cage-free, organic eggs. Those easily run $2.50 - 3.50 a dozen. Could I resist the 69 cent ones?

        For those of you who don 't know Aldi, it's a discount food store. Take your own bags (or purchase theirs), bag your own, all of that. About 90% of the brands are Aldi brands (Aldi or Kirkwood), however, their foods are made by brand name companies. It's kind of like Trader Joe's, only not all-natural and organic. It's VERY cheap! And, so far, very good quality! With a double-back guarantee. It' s worth the trip just to see it. And, it kind of reminds me of a European market in that there is a small produce section, but there is a nice selection. For those of you who have been to New York - think bodega on steroids.

        Exercise today: Husband and I took Allie to the park for about an hour's walk. {She is still tired from all the dogs she met and played with the past few days (especially Dawn and Chris' husky, Lightning). She has three boyfriends, two canine (Jack and Lightning) and one human. The human just won't admit he is a dog person, so he shall remain nameless.}

        Other exercise today included dishes, catching up on all the blogs and sites I watch that I couldn't follow while the computer was down, and procrastinating. Fingers and brain got more exercise than I did . . .
