On New Year's resolutions . . .

Ah, the time-honored tradition of ringing in the New Year with expectations that everything will change. As you know, things WILL change for Husband and me . . . he graduates from his residency in June and we will be moving. Where? Who knows! I am a little panicked about that!

They say a resolution is not a goal until it is in writing. So, boring and dull as it may be, I am writing mine down.

I really decided I wouldn't make resolutions this year, instead I would make lifestyle changes, which is why I know giving up everything at once is diet-suicide.

So, the following are what I have in mind for the coming year . . .

things I am cutting out:
  • wheat products (they make me bloat and give my heartburn!)
  • dairy products (I have a mold allergy which many of them trigger)
  • diet Coke (not caffeine, just diet Coke)
  • processed foods (only those okayed by Dr. McDougall)
  • crabbiness ('nough said)

things I will do:
  • get back to a size 6 permanently
  • work out daily: home DVD or gym 3x week; gazelle or walk daily
  • Walk Allie daily, rain or shine (Freezing rain is excluded)
  • clean the house on a regular schedule (see schedule below)
  • finish a few crocheting/knitting projects
  • get the house ready to sell here
  • sell Michigan condo

things I will clean:

  • Daily: pick up after ourselves!
  • Monday: bedrooms
  • Tuesday: bathrooms (touch-ups)
  • Wednesday: the Study
  • Thursday: dining room and front porch
  • Friday: living room
  • Saturday: thorough bathroom cleaning, laundry, misc. pick-up
  • Sunday: kitchen and ironing
  • Basement as needed
I figure, 15 minutes of cleaning a day vs. letting it get out of hand (like the study right now!) is much easier.

My mantra:
It is far easier to keep up than to catch up.
