I found a song I hadn't heard since I was six years old. It was my favorite then. Wow. I have been looking for this for years! I could only remember one line, and the lyrics didn't come up on Google or Ask, but someone else was trying to find it, and their request did. Turns out, it's called Candy Apple Red by R. Dean Taylor on Rare Earth Records, and someone suggested youtube.
This brings back SOOOO many memories!
Candy Apple Red, the color of her lips
where I used to kneel and pray
Candy Apple Red
won't someone please pray for me on Sunday?
(I never said it was good. It was '71. I was six. Give me a break. I do dig the photo montage near the end. Groovy.) Taylor was involved with Motown in the 60s and 70s as a producer and artist, plus he also wrote songs for The Supremes (like Love Child), Marvin Gaye, Four Tops, and others. Go figure. He's still alive. Reunion tour? Ghost in my House and Gotta See Jane are also quite awesome. And, interestingly enough, his song Indiana Wants Me was the first "white" crossover hit on Motown!
So, this is the day my life will surely change. I am going to be taking Tuesdays and Thursdays off from now until we leave. It also turns out, one of my (soon to be former) students lives nearby and loves to paint! GO FIGURE! Keeping fingers crossed! So much work to do.
I was going to keep working at the private college I was teaching at, but they screwed me big time. My bank is in Michigan, and it IS national (I've gone to branches in Chicago, TN, MN, and other places), but there are no branches or affiliates here in Ohio. So, the new corporate office (it used to be owned by one person . . .) made us change payroll companies and that company messed up my check and didn't direct deposit. And, the new director of our campus will not reimburse me for the fees it cost me at my bank because of the automatic debits I have coming out! This is the second time this has happened, and I refuse to continue dishing out money to stay employed there. It's really not worth it. I have enough work to do at home where it won't cost me a penny! GO FIGURE!
So, Happy Tuesday. I will have better things to talk about in the coming weeks (I hope!).

I'm SO glad you found a painter!
