Day One begins again. I failed a bit last night on the fast, but realized I had not properly psyched myself mentally for it. So, of course I failed.
I thought I couldn't have any caffeine, and if I don't have my perfunctory 4 oz a day, I get a migraine. So, I gave in. Then, since I thought I already blew it, I had dinner. Come to find out, group fast rules state a small amount of caffeine is okay. Small amount. I guess 1/2 cup qualifies for that! So, Day One begins again!
Isn't this the cutest face you have ever seen on a monster? If I had a child, I would put this drawing in his/her room. (I might also lie and tell him/her that it's a portrait done with the monster under the bed. Everytime a child is born, a baby monster is born to live under his/her bed. They really get along well, so there is nothing to be afraid of. Convincing, isn't it?) The drawing is from Australian artist Patricia Piccinini ( http://www.patriciapiccinini.net/ )
Speaking of children, I have always wanted to do a child's room to the lyrics and music of Pete Townsend's song "Pure and Easy". Imagine the room done to look like you are outdoors, rolling green hills, trees, birds. Floating gently along is a music note, just tilting along on the breeze. On one wall, maybe over the window, in gentle, golden scroll, is the opening two lines to the song: There once was a note, pure and easy, playing so free like a breath rippling by. Then, there would be a corner where you see a crowd from behind, and one wall would be fading to twilight, and that would be where the shooting star would be, with a smiling child holding on tightly, arms wrapped around the top point. I think it would be adorable! And, if you are not familiar, maybe the lyrics would help make the song more clear:
There once was a note, pure and easy
Playing so free, like a breath rippling by
The note is eternal, I hear it, it sees me
Forever we blend and forever we die
I listened and I heard music in a word
And words when you played your guitar
The noise that I was hearing was a million people cheering
And a child flew past me riding in a star
As people assemble
Civilization is trying to find a new way to die
But killing is really merely scene changing
All men are bored with other men's lies
I listened and I heard music in a word
And words when you played your guitar
The noise that I was hearing was a million people cheering
And a child flew past me riding in a star
Gas on a hillside, oil in the teacup
Watch all the chords of life lose their joy
Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness
The note that began all can also destroy
We all know success when we all find our own dreams
And our love is enough to knock down any wall
And the future's been seen as men try to realize
The simple secret of the note in us all
I listened and I heard music in a word
And words when you played your guitar
The noise that I was hearing was a million people cheering
And a child flew past me riding in a star
There once was a note, pure and easy
Playing so free, like a breath rippling by
There once was a note, listen
There once was a note, listen(fade)

And the thought for the day:
Wealth is like dung. It is only useful when spread.
I have a list of how I would spread around the MegaMillions, were I to win. It should happen to me because I have a plan! :)
