Oh, I always have such fabulous plans for the weekend! I envision putting on my frilly apron and running about the house in pumps, ala 1950s - having this immaculate house come Sunday.
Truth of the matter - the house is still trashed. It's Sunday night. It ain't gonna happen. I folded some clothes - that's about all.
I did, however, cook! Thursday I made some delicious homemade 3 bean chili - quick and easy and absolutely wonderful! It took about 15 minutes. Friday, I had organic butternut squash ravioli, so I made a bed of caulflower, broccoli, and pea pods, then covered it all with organic marinara. True to my nature, I also made some stuffing. Why? I wanted it! I ended up getting violently (and I do mean VIOLENTLY) ill. It was not a good experience. I don't know if it was the bread - I think it may have been. I have been moderately good about not eating large quantities of bread any more. I took a bicarbonate of soda and went to bed. Oy!
Last night, Tim was on call. When he's on pager call, he always has to be 15 minutes or so away from being able to run to the hospital, so we made a quick dinner - nachos! I gave Husband most of the ones with the cheese and focused on the chopped tomatoes and mixed greens. Plus, a little refried bean dip, YUM!
And today was the best! There is a monstrous international market down here - Jungle Jim's http://www.junglejims.com/. It's not exactly close to us, so we don't go very frequently. BUT, they have EVERYTHING you could want! And, for dinner, I made baby bok choy & eggplant with hoisin and bean sprouts, with a big bowl of shitake lemongrass miso soup. Can you believe it? Fresh shitakes! Those are a rarity. It was wonderful!
Our afternoon was rounded out with a trip to the dog park on the other side of town. Oh, it was great! Allie ran until she could hardly run any longer! She had the best time trying to keep up with a Weimaraner, Louie. That boy was FAST! And she made a few new friends, too. I fell in love with Riley. She looked like a little Yorkie/Jack Russell mix. She kept jumping on the picnic table so she could lick my face. She was a precious little thing! I could handle a small dog if it were like her . . . or my sweetie, Jack. Or Rex, I could deal with him.
PS More so than ever, boycott McDonald's! BAD experience! It's not a place we frequent, and now I know why. The breakfast sandwiches (I know - egg and cheese biscuit!) wasn't awful (just illegal), but the medium drink that used to be 24 oz is now 16 -for the same price! And the yogurt parfait is about, literally 2" high! Wow!
Ba da da da da - I'm NOT lovin' it! Keep your expensive crap. I am being good from now on! I have seriously lost all interest (if there ever were one) in eating there!

mmm..... my favorite:
