So, I am realizing that there is a connection between wheat and my indigestion. It took not eating it for a few weeks to discover it! Last night, I made the BEST majadra/mujadra
/mjadra (I have seen it spelled all three ways) instead of a lentil dal because I like it better and wanted something to go with the onion naan bread we bought Sunday. All night long, I was so bloated and had the worst heartburn - and all could taste was naan! So, instead of taking the Tums every night like I used to, I will just avoid the culprit.
Yesterday, LOTS of walking! I was so proud of myself. I walked all over campus and literally went out of my way. Tim is buying me a new pair of walking shoes for Valentine's Day (he already showed me - sweet boy). It's cheaper than going out to dinner!
Eating was okay - not awful, not great. I have decided to start logging food again because everyone claims you lose more if you are keeping track, because you eat less if you are responsible for it!
Breakfast: OG spelt English Muffin, 1t OG soy marg, 1 poached egg
Lunch: 1 oz jack cheese on sundried tomato tortilla, roasted red pepper, iced tea, vegan molasses cookie
Lunch: 1 oz jack cheese on sundried tomato tortilla, roasted red pepper, iced tea, vegan molasses cookie
Snack: 2 small (like 4") french bread cheese pizzas (I know - cheese and white bread)
Dinner: 1.5 cups mjadra (onions, olive oil, lentils, OG brown rice), 2 loaves onion naan
So, a 1900 calorie day. How to cut 400? CUT OUT THE PIZZA SNACK! And the second loaf of naan (about 4x8 rectangle). It would have been closer to a 1,000 calorie day with those!
PS the picture is from a lentil farm. It's called Autumn Blend. It looks prettier than the mjadra pictures I saw as they all looked like something unmentionable on a plate.
Look how lovely! And what a great site! http://www.purcellmountainfarms.com/index.htm
