Another Grande Dame bites the dust thanks to the economy. The Vernon Manor, a gorgeous old hotel here in Cincinnati (near campus), will be closing this month. It has long been known for its elegance, and many celebrities, including the Beatles, have graced its halls with their presence. The movie Rainman also featured the hotel and its address, and the picture here does not do it justice.
Tim and I will be going down there one last time. I may even break my fast for it!
Incidentally, day two of the fast dawned with much more encouragement. The chest pain is nearly gone, and our walk at the park this morning was wonderful! The weather here is lovely, and I plan to spend the afternoon grading portfolios on the front porch.
