Thanks to annemiewang@yahoo.com who told me what those Tibetan sandals are called! I still don't think they look comfortable, but I could be wrong. They may be the predecessor to the Dr. Scholl's sandals in the 70s . . .
Paduka would also be a cute name for a puppy. I know, I need to stop talking about more kittens and puppies. We might get a puppy for Christmas, but don't tell Husband yet! I told Allie (the one I call Dog, incidentally) that if we got her a puppy to play with, she would have to walk it, teach it to be potty-trained, and clean up after her. Dog agrees, so I don't see what Tim's deal is!
Yesterday's food log was interesting. Incomplete, but interesting. You see, it was student conference day. In an effort to get as many in as possible, I didn't schedule myself a lunch. I ate a little breakfast, a pack of peanut butter crackers for lunch, then was intending to eat a little something when I got home at around 4:15 PM. Then it happened.
We were having a windstorm yesterday - tornado watch, a few touchdowns (in trailer parks - go figure!), and a blinding rain that was blowing nearly sideways. A bit of a mess! By the time I got into the driveway, the rain had abated, but the wind caught Prudence's door (the vintage Jaguar) and started to blow it back. I sat back down for a sec until it abated, then didn't think how close I was to the door jamb. I went to stand up, and made direct contact between my sunglasses on my head and the door jamb - driving the plastic into my head full force. I literally saw grayish black and got nauseous. Sitting there, I was fighting vomiting as I checked for blood. I saw the neighbor kids get off the bus and nearly had Micah get her mom so she could help me into the house. My head was swirling. I used to never believe in "seeing stars" when you get hurt (like in the cartoons), but my mom said it happened to her once when she fell ice skating. I could believe it after yesterday!
The worst part? I had had a sinus headache all morning. It went away when the rain started. One hour later, I had a throbbing headache for the rest of the night! In fact, I didn't even eat dinner. I got up this morning and the headache was gone. Before bed, I had taken two ibuprofen and a benadryl (they make you sleepy). Husband said I never even woke up for the alarms - usually I am the one to hit the snooze for him! The site still hurts, though. And I was still nauseous so I had so far today:
Breakfast: 1 segment of a ruby red grapefruit, 1 strawberry
Lunch: 4x6x2 of 12 grain baguette with fresh basil, sun-dried tomato, OG romaine, and hot mustard, 4x6 rectangle of cornbread with 2 t soy margarine
For dinner, I am making veggie dim sum. The steamed, not deep fried. Yummy!
I have taken Dog on a formal "walk like a lady" walk around the neighborhood (about 3/4 mile) and a "run like the mashugamutt that you are!" off leash walk at the park. She's pretty sleepy!
Oh, yeah. I lost three more pounds! I know, at my current weight, that's like throwing a deck chair off the Queen Mary, but it's three packages of butter off of my body! :)

Hi Kimberly
ReplyDeleteDid you ever wear dr. scholl sandals yourself?
